This is a family recipe. Both of my grandmothers made macaroni pie. My mom adjusted their recipes with my dad's help and came up with the best ever macaroni pie. My mom was known for her macaroni pie. She took it to many covered dish meals and to friends. Now my dad continues our macaroni pie tradition. My son and niece both think we cannot have a famiy meal without macaroni pie. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does. |

Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups milk
- salt
- pepper
- 1 hand full saltine crackers
- butter or margarine
Directions:
- Cook elbow macaroni as directed
- Layer 1/2 cooked macaroni in casserole dish and cover with 1/2 or the cheese
- Repeat layer
- At this point the casserole can be frozen or prepare for cooking
- Crush saltine crackers over macaroni and cheese
- Stir 1 egg in small bowl with salt and pepper.
- Add milk and stir well
- Pour over macaroni and cheese
- Top with dots of butter or margarine
- Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
